Offset Architects were appointed to take on this project with an existing planning approval, to discharge all planning conditions and work up the full package of Construction Details. Particular consideration had to be given to the complex fire strategy, involving extensive liaison with the Fire Brigade to ensure compliance.
This development brings an under-used brownfield site back into good use, providing new housing for the community. The building is nestled neatly behind a row of trees alongside the railway line, and responds positively to the topography and orientation of the site.
The scheme consists of 32 flats over 4 floors of residential accommodation, including a mix of both 1 and 2 bedroom dwellings with open plan kitchen/dining areas and spacious balconies. Undercroft car parking is provided as well as ample cycle storage.
In terms of materials and visual appeal, grey standing seam zinc covers the upper portion of the building and the two cores, which is then contrasted by the softer shades of buff brick.
