Offset Architect’s brief from the client for this project called for extensions to the existing 1930s property using modern contemporary architecture and utilising the best technologies available to provide an extended and refurbished property with a very low heating and energy demand.
This was achieved by detailing the construction drawings using building techniques well beyond current building regulation requirements, approaching Passivhaus EnerPHit standards and utilising renewable energy systems such as solar PV.
The design itself incorporated the use of zinc standing seam roofs and powder coated aluminium glazing systems. The extensions wrap around the original dwelling which retained its elegant front facade with just the addition of a modest enclosed porch.
